At the Station Road Pottery studio, Elizabeth throws and stretches clay to create pottery that is functional, comfortable to hold and a pleasure to look at. Balancing form, function and fun gives meaning and inspiration to her work. She celebrates the bond between people that enjoy her pottery and the maker.
Enjoy the bowls, mugs, pitchers and platters as much as she does. All pieces are food-safe, dishwasher, microwave and oven-safe.
Getting messy with art has never been an issue for me. I have enjoyed a variety of media over the years but feel most at home up to my elbows in clay. Pottery resurfaced over 30 years ago (I keep adding years to that statistic), when I started throwing bowls for the Empty Bowls Project. This event raises funds for a local soup kitchens and engages community volunteers, students and local potters, who create hundreds of soup bowls for an annual dinner. Patrons purchase handmade bowls, enjoy a soup and bread supper and bring bowls home as a reminder of the fight against hunger.
In my workshop now, throwing and stretching clay into unique pieces is both a meditative and exciting experience. On the wheel or hand-building, the process of creating a vessel that may be enjoyed for many years is consistently  motivationing.
