Since the age of three, I've often had a pen, pencil, or brush in my hand, but it wasn't until my late thirties that I really focused on what I wanted to convey. Now, though I work a full-time day job, I hardly let a day go by without drawing or painting, even if only for a short time. Though I am prolific, my work is consistent even though it is varied, marked by an often gestural approach. The most common denominator is the landscape--a lifetime of observing nature and the patterns of trees, land and sky informs most of my work at this stage. I mostly paint from memory or conjure images from the depths of my mind now, having once depicted specifically "real" places. Having lived on the coast and inland, I've stored up a lot of material and it fairly flows out of me.
